Rogar wine openers - Making old fashioned corkscrews new again.
Cork has been used for centuries to stop wine bottles. As we all know, however, corks don’t remove themselves, so some enterprising person invented the corkscrew to get the cork out cleanly. Interestingly enough, the first corkscrew patent was issued in England in the late 1700s. The cork (and the easy removal of it) allowed winemakers to store their wine for longer periods without spoiling or going to vinegar.
However, in a 19th century bar or pub in America or Europe, customers could get a little impatient if an opened bottle of wine didn’t reach their table before too long. That necessity forced the speed corkscrew to be invented. It had everything going for it: it was nice looking, it could do the job and it could do the job pretty fast.
Rogar International Corporation’s speed cork removers have been the leader of the pack since 1975 when they came out with the solid brass Vintner edition. The Vintner design is based on the 1897 patent of Michael Redlinger’s design of the “Champion Cork Removal System". Back then, the Champion had the ability to take the cork out of the bottle and then put it back in to keep the wine from spoiling.
Rogar has utilized the old patented design idea and make it even better using new materials. The Vintner is no longer produced but Rogar’s Estate and Champion cork removers have taken its place. They are the easiest and fastest way to remove (and also replace) a cork from a wine bottle. Rogar's tabletop wine openers all work on flange top bottles also. You can use them on almost any cork sealed bottle, whether it’s wine, olives, vinegar or olive oil.
The Champion’s die cast zinc base can clamp easily and quickly on to a counter or table. It can be used to uncork a wine bottle in less than one second and can also recork in the same amount of time. The Nickel Champion is a highly polished nickel-plated finish, which is a design reproduction of the first Champion ever made in 1897. The Rogar Champion stand-up wine opener also comes in Antique Pewter-Plated with either a white or black granite handle
